The world has lost another great.

Dr. D. James Kennedy died September 5th  of 2007 and the world has changed because of this.  I wrote a small note offering on the website of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Just a bit of something about my encounter with Dr Kennedy.  But as the time has worn on, I felt it necessary to write a bit more,  and give this great man more of a tribute from me. Little did I know when I met him with his “new” adventure of Evangelism Explosion that he’d come to Missouri/Kansas to share that he would be so used of God.  Even less did I expect him to be my own pastor later in life.   I guess it would sound arrogant of me to say that few people could teach me something.  That really isn’t true anyway.  But when it came to Biblical knowledge, Dr Kennedy spoke my language.  I allowed him to teach me from the pulpit, and never personally asked for his direction.  Unfortunately I always felt others were more important,  and I shouldn’t waste his time.  In an EE class I attended he once asked a question to the class, that I answered.  He stated that no one had ever given him the correct answer until then.  Obviously that stuck with me.  Here, a man I revered, had paid me a compliment.  A man of God had allowed such a lowly servant to impress him.

It’s been “on my list” to write and meet people that I consider greats in the world.   I missed out on this one. I know that it doesn’t matter to him now, my minute thank you and praise. He is with God, face to face.  What I can do is carry on.  Go with what he taught and refined within me concerning God, and love,  and peace.

Dr. Kennedy was such a peaceful man of God.  He kindly showed others the love of God, through Christ.  He was strong in his firm attack on those elements of wrong that would compromise the very moral rights this country was founded upon…but he never showed hate for people.

This world continues to deteriorate morally.  More and more people are searching for truth.  Because of Dr Kennedy, I can offer one avenue, ah, the ONE avenue of absolute Truth.  Christ said, “ I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”  He is also the Love.  Peace.
