Dear Mr Obama
Dear President-elect Barack Hussein Obama,
Congratulations to you, sir, on your election as America’s 44th President.
As you prepare your transition and make the key staffing and policy decisions that will shape your administration, I urge you to heed the example of our nation’s first President, George Washington.
This great leader understood that he must answer to a Higher Authority–and that the Bible is the supreme expression of the One he called the Lord and Ruler of Nations.
President Washington knew better than to think that God and His Word should be dismissed from public life. In his first Inaugural Address he told the nation that national prosperity depends upon obedience to the moral obligations laid down in Scripture. He said that:
“the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation
that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”
Our first president took seriously the divine mandate that “He who rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” (2 Samuel 23:3 NKJV.)
I would urge, I would plead, I will pray that you, sir, will do the same.
Mr. President, you will take office at a time of great national and international turmoil. Upheaval and uncertainty rock both Wall Street and Main Street. The Great American Culture War divides our nation along moral and ideological fault lines. Our sons and daughters serve overseas in the struggle against Islamic Jihad. And in the Kremlin, the Russian Bear stirs anew.

All those concerns and many more weigh on our nation. As you prepare to enter the Oval Office, I, as a friend of Coral Ridge Ministries, the Christian media outreach founded by Dr. D. James Kennedy, ask of you the following:
SPEAK AND ACT FOR THE UNBORN
Specifically, I ask you to please use your office to stop
the flow of tax dollars to abortion provider Planned Parenthood,
and support ethical and effective stem cell research
–not research that destroys living human embryos.
NOMINATE JUDGES
who will apply the Constitution
and not their own political agenda to the cases brought before them.
SUPPORT MARRIAGE
by fighting for a constitutional amendment defining marriage
as the union of one man and one woman.
DIRECT THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
to apply current law that prohibits homosexuals from military service
and to once again ask inductees if they engage in homosexual conduct.
PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF EMPLOYERS
by vetoing the Employment Non0Discrimination Act, if it is passed by Congress.
STAND FOR EQUAL JUSTICE,
religious liberty, and free speech
by vetoing “hate crime” legislation, if passed by Congress.
SUPPORT EFFORTS IN CONGRESS
to protect free speech on the public airwaves
by rejecting the “Fairness Doctrine.”
USE YOUR OFFICE TO AID RELIGIOUS PRISONERS
of conscience who suffer in Saudi Arabia, China,
North Korea, and elsewhere for their Christian faith.
INSTRUCT YOUR ATTORNEY GENERAL
to aggressively pursue and prosecute violators
of obscenity and child pornography laws.
HONOR AND RECOGNIZE THE ROLE OF DIVINE PROVIDENCE
in American life by proclaiming America’s Christian Heritage Week.
Mr President, I, along with my fellow Christians, will pray that God will give you the grace and guidance only He can provide as you prepare to take on the enormous weight of the presidency.
As citizens, we will watch to see if you, like George Washington, will honor and acknowledge God and His law as you lead our nation.
